Inspired by Álvaro Siza's "Bestiary" we bring you a collection of drawings of animals made by the architect on azulejo tiles, the lead character in this affiliation is the "Donkey": for its constancy and high capacity for work; for its versatility, determination and strength of character; traits that so well represent the life and work of Álvaro Siza, and which perfectly illustrate Salsa Jeans’ almost 30-year legacy. The colour palette evokes the traditional and iconic Portuguese azulejo tiles, cobalt blue on pristine white.

Two arts crossing paths

Like Álvaro Siza, we like to break down barriers, with creativity and a sense of timelessness, without ever losing sight of our roots. We are inspired by the beauty that surrounds us - music, architecture and landscapes - elevating and giving character to each of our creations.

Through this exclusive collection, we intend to incorporate Álvaro Siza's personality, his timeless, clear and bold lines, which inspire us so much, and in turn reflect our experience, mastery and passion as denim specialists.

For the prestigious Portuguese architect, this is his debut in the world of fashion:

This collaboration is important because I've designed for many projects, but never clothing. It's a new experience. When I was asked to do this, I knew that, deep down, I was going to give these clothes an identity. I remembered that the bestiary is an endless source of subject matter, so I sketched a few for this collection.

For fans of Álvaro Siza's work, we have developed a limited edition of 10 collector's boxes, produced in Portugal, each customized by laser in our industrial plant. This special edition includes some pieces from Salsa Jeans’ collaboration with the architect Álvaro Siza, including a unisex sweatshirt, a tote bag, a denim pencil case, a notebook, a mug, a thermos, and a signed illustration of the Portuguese architect’s Donkey, the central element of the partnership.
