01 WATERIn April 2021, we made a commitment: all of our jeans will be betterwash by 2023. |

In 2021, we introduced Betterwash®, a certified washing process aimed at reducing water consumption through more advanced techniques, such as ozone, laser and e-flow, instead of more traditional techniques. According to a study carried out with the support of Control Union, we concluded that we reduced average water consumption per item produced by 42% between 2013 and 2021. This reduction came as a result of the techniques adopted at the time Betterwash® was implemented, the investment made in factory machinery, the introduction of optimisation processes and the relationship we have with our suppliers. |

Use to packaging |

02 PACKAGINGA responsible approach in terms of packaging includes taking every opportunity to eliminate it and, when necessary, ensuring the use of more sustainable materials. With this in mind, we signed the Portuguese Plastics Pact and we are committed to using certified cardboard that does not contribute to the deforestation of endangered old-growth forests. In 2021, the amount of product packaging represented about 0.1% of the total weight of the items sold. |

Project to review consumables in the logistics chainA comprehensive review project of our logistics chain allowed us to eliminate 100% of plastic consumables in 2020 (includes the elimination of stretch film in box closures and plastic glue tape): savings of 35 tons/year. Additionally, we reduced annual paper consumption by 176 tons, with the use of kraft card reduced by 45% and the use of A4 paper reduced by 71%. |

In 2021, we set ourselves an ambitious challenge (and one that we believe is unique in the market): to completely eliminate the use of plastic from our denim supply chain. This means getting all these products circulating in perfect condition between our suppliers, warehouses, shops and end customers without using a single plastic bag. After months of dedication and research, we found a solution that will help us eliminate at least 1.1 million plastic bags per year when this project is completed in 2023 (we're already halfway to reaching our target). |
Use to co2 |

03 CO2We've brought our carbon neutrality goal forward from 2050 to 2040, with an intermediate, scientifically defined goal of a 50.4% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 2030. |

In order to achieve carbon neutrality, we seek to become more energy efficient through the use of more efficient equipment. We have also installed renewable energy solutions in the facilities monitored. Our goal is to produce approximately 30% of energy for our own consumption, using photovoltaic panels in our facilities. |

And, because we are aware of the importance of decarbonisation, we are measuring our Scope 3 footprint, with the aim of establishing new emission reduction indicators, also in this scope. |
