Mid-season looks

Mid-season looks... from winter to spring

We're getting to that time of year when the temperature starts changing. Little by little, the days get longer and warmer, at least here in the northern hemisphere. Spring and autumn are often times of personal renewal, both literally and figuratively, and of change.

They’re also ideal opportunities for you to start focusing on mid-season looks that will keep you comfortable during the day. Here are some suggestions and some tips for creating your outfits as you await the arrival of spring.

The power of wearing layers in mid-season

In mid-season, temperatures usually fluctuate during the day. Mornings can be chillier, but it can actually get warmer in the afternoons.

So, here's our first tip: create mid-season looks using layers. Put away your thick woolly jumper and start wearing t-shirts and cardigans again.

Opt for light fabrics so that you can layer your clothes. In this case, shirts and blouses can be a good ally.

Here's another tip: choose tops with structured sleeves. Although fuller or special sleeves can be attractive, they’re actually not very practical if you want to wear one or more jackets or cardigans over them. Your mid-season looks have to be practical!

Light jackets are essential!

Coats and jackets are almost always part of mid-season looks. Coats are excellent solutions for the colder months (you know we just love winter coats). But as the weather starts improving, you have to go for lighter coats and jackets.

In the first few weeks (there are places where it’s still cold in March), we recommend wearing leather or suede effect jackets (which also go very well with light scarves).

And, at the end of the season, you can shine in your denim jacket. Do you need ideas on how to match these jackets? No problem! Here are five looks with denim jackets for women and lots of other looks with denim jackets for men. And these clothes can also be worn under larger coats on those colder days.

Mid-season jeans are fundamental

And last, but not least, jeans. Jeans — in all their different shapes and sizes — can be useful at any time of year.

And for mid-season looks you can start with classic jeans for women (as you know, at Salsa Jeans we have the jeans that suit you best) and work up to Bermudas or shorter jeans as summer approaches..

Jeans are the perfect choice because they're very versatile and you can match them with different t-shirts or jackets in layers.

Some more tips for your mid-season looks

  • Put away your stockings and tights and let your legs breathe a little after the harsh winter.

  • Choose short, light skirts for those warmer days.

  • Get ready for mid-season dresses paired with denim jackets.

  • Give your feet a break from boots and start wearing trainers (it's still too early for sandals).
