SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT | Salsa Jeans

become

doing well fits better

Salsa jeans was born in 1994 in the north of Portugal
Where expertise meets the truth of the people,
Where our denim jeans are made from our heart and soul
To become the way for you to express yourself to the world.

We do what very few do
The best performance jeans with our best technology & fit
Handcrafted by people we call family.

It is thinking of our families and the future generations
That we felt it’s time to do better.
We are part of a problem that’s bigger than us
We are also part of the solution.

We must, we can, we will do better.
We do better by caring for our planet, for our community,
For the ones we love.

We are aware
Doing well fits better

become purpose

The reduction of the amount of water needed during the production
We started by as a laundry, so we are very familiar with all the methods of producing denim. Along the way, we always tried to upgrade every little process, even if it seemed meaningless at the time. However, we always knew there was a lot to improve. The reduction of the amount of water needed during the production – as well as the chemicals used – was a concern we had, still do and will have for the years to come, as this industry can be very challenging. Is now clearer than ever that we can deliver the same jeans, looking just as fabulous, with less water.

GREENER RESOURCES FIT US BETTER

Our battle to do better doesn’t stop in our laundry or our logistics. Actually, that is just the most visible part of it all. It starts with each and every single one of us. At Salsa we are one big family: there are more than 500 people doing their part to help improving not only the company’s footprint but also theirs, in their everyday life.

INNOVATIVE MATERIALS FIT US BETTER

Our 27-year expertise in producing jeanswear has presented us some amazing materials and new ways to achieve performance, fit and comfort while being kind to the planet.

TENCEL® LYOCELL®

Low ecological impact, biodegradable, produced from renewable raw material wood. Some of our jeanswear is made with Tencel!

TENCEL® REFIBRA®

A technology that upcycles cotton scraps that would go to waste, then mixing them with wood pulp to create new TENCEL fibers. You can find it in our denim garments!

ECOVERO Viscose

Coming from certified renewable wood sources, this fiber ensures a cleaner and responsible production. We use it on our t-shirts!

REPREVE

A fiber made out of plastic bottles! We use this kind of polyester in our puffers in many ways: for the filling, for the lining or even as the main fabric!

SORONA

This fiber originally comes from the sugar extracted from the crops, then added to plant-based ingredients to create a polymer with low environmental impact. Many of our jackets are filled with this kind of material.

3M – Recycled Warmth

We use the 3M Thinsulate Insulation technology in the filling of some of our coats. It is made with recycled content, including fibers made from recycled plastic bottles.

MIPAN Nylon

This nylon yard, made of recycled pre-consumed waste, is the eco-friendly solution we use as a filling for our puffers.

The suppliers we work with

We work with several denim suppliers when it comes to our jeanswear. As part of our sustainable commitment, we try and do as much as possible close to our headquarters in Portugal, not only to make sure our teams can be part of all the different parts of the production but mostly to reduce long distance transportation.
