Salsa supports three institutions in the fight against breast cancer

The Portuguese denim brand Salsa embraces a social cause to celebrate World Social Media Day, on 30 June. It has joined forces with three institutions that fight against breast cancer.
 
The Salsa Social Media Day will run from 30 June to 14 July. During this period, the brand will donate 1 euro for every two new followers on its official Instagram page (@salsaofficial).

The brand, aware of the increasing importance of social media in our daily lives, deemed it important to highlight Social Media Day by supporting a reference charitable institution.

In Portugal, Salsa will support the iMM-Laço Fund, founded in 2015 by the Laço Association and the Institute of Molecular Medicine, which aims to support research projects in the breast cancer field, thus seeking to bring hope to thousands of women who are diagnosed with this disease every year. All the research projects in the breast cancer field aim to find the causes of breast cancer, thereby reducing its prevalence. They also seek to provide more effective treatments as well as discover the mechanisms that trigger metastatic breast cancer.

The institution chosen in Spain was Fero (Fundación de Investigación Oncológica) which is a private foundation whose goal is to contribute to the development of cancer research. The project places an emphasis on translational research, i.e. on the transfer of the results of basic research to a clinical setting. The integration of these two areas makes shorter approval times for new drugs possible and helps patients to benefit more quickly from scientific advances in the fight against cancer.

In France the institution was “Le Cancer du Sein, Parlons-en!” (see http://www.cancerdusein.org) born in 1994, created by Estée Lauder France and the magazine Marie Claire. The purpose of this association is to raise the awareness of women about the importance of early breast cancer detection and to join forces to fight against breast cancer. So far, the association has donated more than 2 million euros for breast cancer research..
